This absurd pretense that the pavement is not a public space - and therefore you are allowed to smoke as much as you like the faces of fellow pedestrians - needs to change, and fast.
But most smokers seem to think it's somewhere to celebrate the Magna-Carta rights of an Englishman to help everyone share the joys of passive smoking. There doesn't even appear to be a shred of a publicity campaign to suggest civility or sensitivity in the matter. I tell ya - there's no joy from a stranger's smoke in your eyes.
Just now I stupidly nearly got run over trying to avoid a guys waltz-walking from side to side of a broad pavement. Offices back on to the road I live - and there's a pub at either end. A smoker's paradise. Not mine.
No, I am not being "politically correct" I just want to heard all smokers up, seal them all in the Dome 02, and turn the oxygen off for a while.
