I have an an image in my head of my grandfather playing 'solitaire' - what I was brought up to call 'patience'.  He used to spend most of the day sitting in his tubular chrome chair in front of a green card table, playing game after game, criticizing the world and my grandmother's cooking.

That's my abiding image.  Unfortunately Google doesn't share it.
