My Dear Daddy
       I hope you are well. I am getting on fine heare. I have played a few games of football we have a lecture every Saturday.
       I have found a few ~~more~~ people who collect matchbox tops. Could you please send me some swaps. Thank you fore your letters.
       My place in form has gone up as you can see on my slips.
       I had a nice time on Saturday and enjoyed the Memorial Service.
       Give my love to everyone.

  Batsman? Server? I did not then, and have never had since, the slightest interest in football of either, or any, code. See for example my post Rugby Rebel, re-published a few days ago.
  
  All I remember is the boys (9 or 10 yrs old) at the back of the field telling unfunny jokes about poo-poo.
